FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Understand what BoardCue does—and what it does not do.

Clear answers about individual and organisation use, live meeting support, AI, source evidence, security and deployment.

Who is BoardCue Live for?

BoardCue Live is designed for non-executive directors, trustees, governors, chairs, executives, company secretaries and governance teams. Individuals can use a private workspace, while organisations can connect boards and committees with appropriate permissions.

Is BoardCue Live a meeting transcription tool?

Transcription may form part of Live Mode, but it is not the purpose of BoardCue Live. The platform connects live discussion with papers, previous meetings, risks, actions and strategic context.

Can I use BoardCue Live as an individual board member?

Yes. Individual access is designed for non-executive directors, trustees, governors and other board members who want a private preparation and meeting workspace.

Can an organisation deploy BoardCue Live across several committees?

BoardCue Live is designed to support multiple boards and committees with appropriate document structures and access permissions. Available options depend on the current organisation plan.

What documents can I add?

BoardCue Live is designed for board packs, minutes, risk registers, strategies, action logs, audit reports, regulatory reports and other relevant governance documents.

What does triangulation mean?

Triangulation means comparing the current discussion with previous meetings, earlier papers, risks, actions, strategies and external findings.

Is BoardCue a board portal?

For organisation customers, yes. BoardCue can provide the working environment for board and committee papers, meetings and governance history. Its difference is that the information held there also powers BoardCue's governance intelligence before, during and after meetings.

Do we need to keep our existing board-paper system?

Not necessarily. BoardCue is designed to hold and distribute the papers and governance information needed for board and committee work. If you are moving from another board portal or Microsoft 365-based process, talk to us about your current setup and migration requirements.

Can I use BoardCue if my organisation does not use it?

Yes. Individual board members can subscribe to BoardCue independently and use it with governance information they are authorised to process, subject to their organisation's policies and confidentiality requirements.

What happens after a meeting?

Users can review the meeting record, decisions, actions, owners, dates, unanswered questions and assurance gaps. Relevant history can then be carried into preparation for the next meeting.

Can chairs use BoardCue Live?

Yes. Chair Mode is available with BoardCue for Organisations and brings agenda timing, participation awareness, assurance prompts, decisions, actions, parking-lot items and private chair notes into one live workspace for the authorised chair.

Can I see the source behind an AI insight?

Significant observations are designed to lead back to the relevant paper, page, meeting record, risk or action so users can distinguish source evidence from AI interpretation.

Does BoardCue Live make decisions for the board?

No. BoardCue Live provides evidence, observations and potential questions. People remain responsible for judgement and decision-making.

Can BoardCue Live be wrong?

Yes. AI can misunderstand language, miss context or produce an inaccurate interpretation. BoardCue Live shows relevant sources so users can test important observations.

Does BoardCue Live record meetings?

Standard Live Mode uses the Web Speech API exposed by a supported browser. BoardCue requests microphone access but does not create or save an audio recording on this path. The browser returns transcript text, which BoardCue stores in the authorised meeting workspace. Users remain responsible for appropriate authority and meeting protocols.

Does BoardCue send meeting audio to OpenAI?

No. Standard Live Mode does not send meeting audio through the Lovable AI Gateway to OpenAI for transcription. It uses the Web Speech API exposed by the supported browser. The browser or device provider may process audio through its own speech service.

Can I use Device-Only mode?

No. Device-Only or private-device AI is not currently marketed as an available BoardCue capability.

Does BoardCue Live integrate with Microsoft Teams, Zoom or Google Meet?

Direct meeting-platform integrations are part of the product roadmap. Current meeting capture options depend on the version of BoardCue Live being used.

How is our information protected?

BoardCue Live uses the controls described on the Security page. Deployment, data handling and retention arrangements should be reviewed before organisation-wide use.

Can individual users keep their work private?

Personal workspaces and notes use the current application permissions. Users should confirm the appropriate workspace and sharing settings for their use case.

Can we start with one committee?

Yes. Organisations may begin with a focused board or committee use case before considering wider deployment.

How much does BoardCue Live cost?

Individual and organisation access are priced separately. Visit Pricing for current options or contact us about an organisation deployment.

Is BoardCue Live suitable for confidential meetings?

Suitability depends on the information involved, current security controls and the organisation's information-governance requirements. Confidential use should be locally reviewed and approved.
